At Playa Lapa each season has different advantages–The GREEN SEASON (June through November)is turtle season in Carate, with many turtles digging nests and laying eggs each night, many babies hatching and making their way back to the sea.  It’s the season of the rain frogs–a continuous chorus of chirruping and fantastic night photo opportunities.  Carate is a target destination in the rainy season because of the abundance of wildlife, and the sea turtle nesting in particular.  Other advantages of this season are the cooler temperatures and fewer tourists.  However the rainy season has some disadvantages, such as swollen rivers, poorer roads, and some delays…If you are a naturalist in search of abundant wildlife sittings, this is the prime time to visit Carate.  But if rain is an issue for you, please consider visiting during the drier months of December through May.  The HIGH SEASON has fewer rain showers, much sun by day, and the onset of ripening fruit–which can also attract monkeys, birds and a variety other animals.

As an off-grid destination, Playa Lapa is powered by sustainable resources and self reliance, permitting enjoyment of all seasons, regardless of weather conditions.  The house is secure, well ventilated, and dry; the community is friendly and supportive with a strong sense of interdependence in a remote destination.

RENTAL POLICIES:

TO RESERVE PLAYA LAPA:  A 50% deposit is required to reserve the house, with the balance due 1 month before occupancy.  All payments can be made through Paypal.

CHECK IN / CHECK OUT:  Check out time is 11 AM. Check in time is 3 PM. 

TO CANCEL:  Reservations cancelled more than 90 days before date of booking are refundable minus Paypal fees and a $100 cancellation fee. Reservations cancelled 30 to 90 days before date of booking will be issued a credit toward a booking in the next rental season, less PayPal and cancellation fees.  There are no refunds for cancellations less than 30 days before date of booking, or for late arrivals or early departures.  When a booking is confirmed, support services and personnel are engaged.  We ask your careful consideration of the efforts on your behalf before requesting any refunds.
